Dynamic Slope Stability
10 Years
Dr. Sandeep Kumar is a Geospatial Officer (Infrastructure) and holds a Ph.D. in Geology from the Wadia Institute of Himalayan Geology/HNB Garhwal University. His specialist work focuses on geotechnical and geohazard assessment in Himalayan terrain, including dynamic slope-stability analysis, FEM-based numerical modelling, field geotechnical investigations, landslide susceptibility assessment, coseismic landslide hazard assessment, debris-flow modelling and machine-learning-based hazard/risk modelling. His geospatial capability includes GIS and Remote Sensing, UAV/drone mapping and integration of field observations with geospatial hazard assessment. He has specialised training in large-landslide field data collection, monitoring and modelling, landslide studies and earthquake geology, geological/geotechnical mapping for landslides and soil geotechnical investigation. His technical toolkit includes Rocscience RS2, RAMMS, HEC-RAS, Pix4Dmapper, RockWorks, ArcGIS, QGIS, Google Earth and WEKA. He has more than 14 publications covering earthquake-induced landslide susceptibility, coseismic landslide hazard, machine-learning-based landslide risk and the 2025 Dharali disaster.
Expertise in geotechnical and geohazard assessment, dynamic slope stability, FEM modelling, landslide susceptibility, coseismic hazards, debris-flow modelling, GIS, Remote Sensing, UAV mapping and machine-learning-based risk assessment.
